ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ މެމްބަރުންގެ މުސާރަ 20،000 ރުފިޔާއަށް ކުޑަކުރުމަށް ސ. އަތޮޅު މެމްބަރު މުހައްމަދު އަސްލަމް ގޮވާލެއްވީ މިއަދު ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގައި ހައިކޯޓުގެ އިސްފަޑިޔާރަށް ދޭނެ އިނާޔަތާމެދު ކުރެވުނު މަޝްވަރާތަކާ ގުޅިގެންނެވެ. މިހާރު މަޖިލީހުގެ މެމްބަރުންނަށް 64،500 ރުފިޔާ ލިބިލައްވައެވެ. މެމްބަރުން އަމިއްލަފުޅަށް މިއަދަދަށް މުސާރަ ހަމަ ޖެއްސެވުމާ ވިދިގެން މުސްތަގިއްލު އެހެން މުއައްސަސާތަކުގެ މެމްބަރުންގެ މުސާރަތައް ވެސް ވަނީ މަތިކުރެވިފައެވެ. ނަމަވެސް، ސުކޫލުތަކުގެ ޓީޗަރުންގެ މުސާރަ މަތިކުރުމަށް މަޖިލީހަށް ހުށައެޅުނު ވަގުތު ބެޖެޓުގައި ލާރި ނެތިގެން އެކަން ވާންނެތްކަމަށް މެމްބަރުންވަނީ ވާހަކަ ދައްކަވާފައެވެ.
ދިވެހިދައުލަތަށް ލިބޭ އާއްމުދަނީ އަށް އެއްވެސް ވަރަކަށް ބެލުމެއްނެތި އަދި ރާއްޖޭގެ އިގްތިސާދު ހީނަރުވެފައި އޮތް ދަނޑިވަޅެއްގައި މަޖިލީހުގެ މެމްބަރުންގެ މުސާރަތައް އަމިއްލައަށް މަތިކުރުމާ ގުޅިގެން ވަރަށް ގިނަ އާއްމުން ވަނީ ފާޑުކިޔާފައެވެ. މިކަމާގުޅިގެން، މެމްބަރުންގެ މުސާރަތައް ކުޑަކުރުމަށް މާލޭ މެމްބަރު އަލްފާޞިލް އިބްރާހީމް އިސްމާއީލު ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހަށް ހުށައެޅި ހުށައެޅުންވަނީ މެމްބަރުން ބަލައިނުގަނެ މަޖިލީހުގެ ތަޅަމުން ބޭރުކޮށްފައެވެ. މެމްބަރުންގެ މުސާރަ ބޮޑުކުރެވިފައިވަނީ ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ މާލިއްޔާތު ކޮމެޓީއިން ހުށައަޅައި މެމްބަރުން ފާސްކޮށްގެންނެވެ. ދާދި ފަހުން މާލިއްޔާތު ކޮމެޓީއިން ވަނީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ މުސާރަ 150،000 އަށް މަތިކުރުމަށްވެސް ހުށައަޅާފައެވެ.
ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ މުސާރައަށް އެހާ ބޮޑު އަދަދެއް ހުށައެޅިގެން ދިޔަ މައިގަނޑު ސަބަބަކީވެސް ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ މެމްބަރުންގެ މުސާރަތައް މަތިކުރެވިފައިވުމެވެ. މިކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން މުސްތަގިއްލު މުއައްސަސާތަކުގެ މުސާރަތައް މަތިކުރެވި، އެންމެ ފަހުން އެއީ މިންގަނޑެއްކަމަށް ބަލައި ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ މުސާރަވެސް ބޮޑުކުރުމަށް ހުށައެޅުނީއެވެ. ނަމަވެސް، ދެރަކަމަކީ މިގޮތަށް މުސާރަތައް ބޮޑުކުރެވެމުންދާއިރު ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ މެމްބަރުން އެބޭފުޅުންގެ ޒިންމާ ރަނގަޅަށް އަދާނުކުރައްވާތާގައި ދައުލަތުން މުސާރަދެއްވާ އެހެން މުވައްޒަފުންނަށް ލިބޭ ކުޑަ މުސާރަތަކާމެދު ވިސްނާ ނުލައްވާތީވެއެވެ.
ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލީހުގެ މެމްބަރުން އެބޭފުޅުންގެ ޒިންމާ ރަނގަޅަށް އަދާނުކުރައްވައޭ ބުނަންޖެހުނީ މިއަދުގެ ޖަލްސާއަށްވެސް ގިނަ މެމްބަރުން ހާޒިރުނުވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން ވޯޓަށް ނެގުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ ބިލުތައް ފަސްކުރަންޖެހިފައިވާތީއެވެ. އަދި ދޭތެރެ ދޭތެރެއިން މެމްބަރުންގެ ގާނޫނީ އަދަދު ހަމަނުވުމުގެ ސަބަބުން މަޖިލީހުގެ ޖަލްސާތައް ނުބޭއްވިދާތީވެއެވެ. މީގެއިތުރުން، ތިމާމެން ކުރަންޖެހޭ މަސައްކަތްތަކުގެ މަތިން ހަދާންނެތި ބޭކާރުގޮތުގައި ވަގުތުތައް ނަގާލުމާއި މަޖިލީހަށް ވަޑައިގަންނަވާއިރު ރައްޔިތުންނާ ގުޅޭ ކަންކަމުގައި މަޝްވަރާކުރުމެއްނެއްތާގައި ރަނގަޅަށް ތައްޔާރުނުވެ ޖަލްސާތަކަށް ވަޑައިގަތުން ހިމެނެއެވެ. މެމްބަރުންގެ މުސާރަތައް ބޮޑުކުރުމަށް ފަހުވެސް މިކަންތައްތަކަށް ހައްލެއް އައިސްފައިނުވާކަން ފާހަގަކުރެވެއެވެ.

good points. let's join hands to call to bring down the salaries of these mps. rich mps like gasim, jabir, shiyam, thasneem, nazim and others should donate their salaries to their respective atoll fund or charities
we better not elect businessmen 4 parliament. they r there to protect their business. take my word 4 this. they all wil vote to extend the lease period of their resorts.
If the ordinary citizens want to see any benefit of a new Government, the first thing we need to do is to reform the Majlis. I have always maintained that members of the Majlis have to take as much responsibily of the excesses during Maumoon's rule. Without their backing he could not have survived 30 years.
While the members were quick to pass bill giving them privelages, the bill falls short of checks. Around the world, Parliamentary Previlages bills also contain the check and balances for Members discipline and suspensions (without salary) for vaious offeses. As such, the Members are the only branch of Government who are above the Law. They can do practically anything without having to be responsible for their actions. They can collect their full salary without attending a single sitting. There is hardly anyway to sack a non performing member of Majlis.
Our voters have ousted a 30 year regime by their vote. Was this done by an informed voter base or due to a well organised campaign? If we tend to vote for the best campaign for the Parliamentary Elections, it is likely that those who have access to most funds will be elected.
If we want reform, we need to vote for candidates who can give their word that they will treat Majlis work as their first priority, that will attend the sittings. To do this they have to be free from other commitments such as businesses and other jobs.
We the public will decide on this, and the next Majlis will be according to our votes hence we have to be responsible for what we create.
